STAR 2-5 figure skating program
The STAR 2-5 program is for skaters who have completed the STAR 1 freeskate assessment and would like to continue in the STARSkate program. Our STAR 2-5 program develops skaters in the sport of figure skating and its disciplines: freeskate, skills, ice dance and artistic. The goal of the program is to prepare skaters for successful completion of the STAR 2-5 assessments and prepare skaters for the STAR 6- Gold program.
This includes:
- Skills: edges, turns, power and field moves.
- Freeskate: jump and spin technique as well as the introduction of programs to music.
- Ice Dance: dance steps and technique, pattern dances, timing and carriage.
Assessments – Skaters in this program will be assessed by the coach that is teaching them each discipline (freeskate, skills & ice dance). All assessments in the STAR 2-5 program will be assessed to a standard and there is a fee of $15 to attempt each assessment. Coaches will inform skaters and their parents/guardians when the child is ready for an assessment. Please see the chart below for skills in the STAR 1-5 program.
