PreCanSkate Program - that important 1st step!

The PreCanSkate program is an un-parented class for children 4 yrs + with no skating experience. The goal of the program is to teach skaters how to get up and stand on the ice with balance, move forward, move backwards and stop. Skaters learn these skills in a fun environment which includes toys, games, bubbles and fun activities. When skaters have mastered these skills they are ready for the CanSkate program. All lessons are taught by Skate Canada certified professional coaches and are 30 mins in length to accommodate the age group.

*Mandatory - PreCanSkate skaters require a CSA approved hockey helmet with a cage to protect face and chin in case of forward falls*

There are 8 basic skills for the skaters in this program:

  1. Fall down and get up
  2. Balance on 2 feet
  3. Move forward
  4. Make snow
  5. Move backward
  6. 2-foot twist
  7. 360° march
  8. 2-foot jump
